The papers document the professional life of James Enright, including research on biological rhythms and sensory biology, teaching at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and his academic life at the University of California, San Diego from his years as a graduate student California until his retirement as Professor in 2000.

American biologist educated at UCLA and UCSD. Enright came to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 1957 as a Research Assistant, and joined the Zoology faculty at UCLA in 1963. He was appointed Assistant Professor at UCSD/SIO in 1966, became an Associate Professor in 1968, and a full professor in 1974. He retired from UCSD/SIO in 2000.
